This year I had the pleasure of road tripping down to Sackville, New Brunswick with friends for Sappy Fest X. This year rather than trying to draw every single set, we decided to be a lot more casual about the whole affair- drawing when it felt appropriate and not pushing when it didn’t. This year we were able to make the trip with more friends, as well as renewing some friendships with friends we made at Sappy last year (including our friend Ashley Grafe, who is now a part of the Greetings from Toronto Collective).
Besides the overall feeling of chillness which seems to pervade the overall tone of Sappy Fest, some of the highlights included a high energy performance from Mozart’s Sister (as well as a late night set by Nancy Pants at Thunder & Lightning the same eve). Collectively we were also all delighted by The Lonely Parade’s Sunday afternoon set, and couldn’t help ourselves from dancing along to the country & western stylings of francophone band Les Hay Babies.
Here are some drawings Ehab & I made at the fest.
